Overview
Pincer is a companion app for OpenClaw, an AI agent platform. Pincer is designed with privacy at its core — your data stays on your devices and your private network. We do not operate servers, collect analytics, or track you in any way.
Data We Collect
None. Pincer does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting services, and no advertising frameworks.
How Pincer Works
Pincer communicates directly with the Pincer for Mac companion app running on your computer. This connection happens exclusively over Tailscale, a mesh VPN that creates an encrypted tunnel between your devices. No data passes through our servers — because we don't have any.
- All communication stays within your private Tailscale network
- Session data, schedules, and file contents are fetched from your Mac and displayed locally
- Connection settings (your Mac's Tailscale hostname) are stored on-device only
Camera Access
Pincer requests camera access solely to scan QR codes for pairing with your Mac. The camera is used only during the QR scanning screen. No photos or video are captured, stored, or transmitted.
Local Network Access
Pincer connects to your Mac over Tailscale's encrypted network. This requires network access permissions on your device. Pincer does not scan your local network, discover other devices, or communicate with any service other than the Pincer for Mac app you've paired with.
On-Device Storage
Pincer stores a small amount of data locally on your iPhone for offline access and configuration:
- Connection settings — your Mac's Tailscale hostname
- Cached state — a snapshot of your agent's status for offline viewing
- Preferences — app settings like demo mode toggle
This data is stored in the app's sandboxed container using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults). It is not accessible to other apps and is removed when you delete Pincer.
Third-Party Services
Pincer uses zero third-party services. No analytics (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Firebase). No crash reporting. No advertising. No social SDKs. The app has no external dependencies whatsoever.
Data Sharing
We do not share any data with third parties because we do not have any of your data. Pincer has no mechanism to collect or transmit information to us or anyone else.
Children's Privacy
Pincer does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is a technical tool for managing an AI agent and is not directed at children.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. Since Pincer collects no data, meaningful changes to this policy are unlikely.
